My journey to becoming a professional planner began in 2021 after earning my Honour’s Degree from the University of Venda. TJDynamic provided invaluable support, making the process smoother despite its challenges. The journey required dedication, patience, skill development, and adaptability to community needs. Through this experience, I gained practical knowledge that strengthened my passion for urban development. I am deeply grateful to TJDynamic and CETA for their support.

My journey to a successful registration as a Technical Town and Regional Planner with SACPLAN entails gaining relevant practical experience, meeting the required competencies, and completing the registration process. It signifies a commitment to advancing the profession and contributing to sustainable town and regional planning. This process has also helped me develop a deeper understanding of the challenges and responsibilities within the field.

The journey to successful registration as a professional planner with the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN), encompasses mastering critical skills such as Technical skills, Project Monitoring, and Implementation, Land Use Management, Research, Policy Evaluations, and Corporate Strategic Assistance, all of which contribute to informed decision-making and effective planning solutions.

Throughout my CETA candidacy journey, I have honed my communication, teamwork and time management skills, which are essential to working efficiently in any practical setting. Additionally, I have also gained hands-on experience in AutoCad to equip myself with practical knowledge of the industry. My primary goal during this internship was to develop my skills further, gain confidence and build a network in the field.

As a Town Planning intern at TJDynamic, I gained experience in urban planning, GIS mapping, and zoning analysis. I worked on development projects while ensuring compliance with regulations and planning standards. Engaging with stakeholders taught me to balance economic and social interests. This strengthened my problem-solving skills and passion for sustainable spaces, fostering a deeper understanding of urban development challenges.
